How to Help

The Paul Ambrose Trail for Health (PATH) is a newly proposed bicycle and pedestrian trail system for the City of Huntington. The namesake, Dr. Paul Ambrose, was a promising young physician who was killed at the Pentagon in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Dr. Ambrose was dedicated to family health and preventative medicine to fight obesity and the trail system is a way for his efforts to continue to have an impact in Huntington.

The Rahall Transportation Institute Foundation, in association with the City of Huntington and various community members, has designed this system to incorporate many of Huntington's amenities and workplaces to allow the citizens of Huntington an alternate means of transportation. Because the PATH will help cut congestion, connect business and communities, and provide healthy recreational opportunities for residents, the PATH is vital in Huntington's continued efforts towards the redevelopment and growth of the City.

The City of Huntington and the Cabell County Commission are currently working to secure grant funds for sections of the proposed PATH system. Although these highly competitive grants may fund sections of the PATH, large portions of the proposed trail still remain unfunded. Therefore, the PATH is looking for individual and corporate donations to fund the remaining sections of the trail and trailheads. Your donation will enable us to make the proposed path a reality and increase the vitality of the City of Huntington.

In recognition of your individual or company tax deductable contribution, we will place your name and/or company logo and website link on our website (PaulAmbroseTrailforHealth.org). Your donation is an investment in the City and will contribute to the attractiveness of the area.
